Played a little Oblivion. It had been a while. I've been doing more stuff with my 360 now that I have one of the new ones. Nice and quiet most of the time, but I wish the DVD drive was quieter when spinning up. You'd think they would have taken care of that. Also, they may as well have made the USB ports USB 3.0 and made it gigabit ethernet while they were updating things.

By the way, has anyone tried using converting the Xbox 360 Oblivion game save to play in the PC version as outlined here? Am I reading that right? I may have to try that. I bought the PC version of Oblivion on Steam during a sale, but I haven't really played it on the PC because I'd already spent so much time playing the Xbox 360 version. Anyway, it would be cool if I could just port the saved game over.

Halo Reach is awesome. I would put it up there with Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead for my favorite games so far this year.

Cv, save the game to the HD and play it that way. Less spinning

Oh, I've already done that with Oblivion, so I wasn't talking about that one, specifically. I won't be installing games to the hard drive as a rule, though. I guess I just don't like the hard drive space disappearing that fast, even though I have plenty of space left at the moment.

Dr. House, I'm waiting for another good deal on Red Dead Redemption. If anyone sees anything pop up, let me know.

I watched an entire 720p walkthrough of Splinter Cell Conviction on YouTube. Yes, it's long, but the video game is wicked, the video quality is stunning, and the guy who recorded his gameplay is REALLY good IMO. It's the only game that I get an absolute thrill out of watching someone else play.

I finished the campaign of Reach. Overall, two thumbs up!

There is so much content to explore afterwards with all the different game modes and forge. As a huge fan of firefight in ODST they have added a bunch of different variations. I tried GruntPocalypse on legendary and it was a lot fun headshotting hundreds and hundreds of those buggers.

Eternal Sonata was cheap enough that I finally picked it up. I still like the original title: Trusty Bell: Chopin's Dream, but Eternal Sonata works, too. I barely started it, and it falls victim to the too-many-cutscenes-not-enough-gameplay prevalent in JRPGs, but I'm hoping the ratio improves a bit after the initial setup. The visuals are definitely beautiful. I'd play more for that alone. I didn't pay enough attention to the soundtrack. I got the Xbox 360 version, but maybe I should have gotten the PS3 version since it supposedly has extras.

I also have another JRPG to play. David was kind enough to send me Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) to try. I barely started a game in that the other day, too. I will have to give both games more time.

Took a break from Mass Effect 2 to load Civilization 5 on my computer the other day and on my fathers computer today. Both games have a feature that really pisses me off.

Mass Effect 2 logs onto the “Cerberus Network” (XBox Live?) every time before loading. Worse is Civ 5 which won’t even install unless you are connected to the internet and install “Steam” first. What a load of crap. My father doesn’t have an internet connection which ment dragging his computer to my house just to install the fracking game. Thankfully it plays w/o have to be connected or it would have gone back.

This internet “DRM” and the often associated spam email and adds you get when logging onto the server is quickly making me rethink the appeal of gaming.

I can't stand Stream either, Dean. You use to have a choice to install the fracking stuff; and requiring an internet connection is complete BS.
