Does anyone know for a good on-line music store with a good selection and decent prices? For CD's, DVD-A's etc not MP3's
It seems like a lot of the one's I used to deal with are really cutting back on selection and prices are going out of wack. For example, since HMV teamed up with Amazon it just hasn't been the same

Not a direct answer to your question -- but if you're looking for less-than-new items, SecondSpin.com is a very nice used online music shop. The selection varies, but the prices can be fantastic, so it's worth starting your search there. I've bought batches and had a good experience with shipping and disc quality. And the prices were great, from $3.99 for old standbys to $7.99 for closer-to-retail items, like a recent Peter Yorn CD. Shipping is very reasonable on more than one item.

Sean, if you haven't done so, check the Tower Records site.

Uh, does their website have dramatically lower prices than the stores? Because the last time I checked, they were just as expensive (if not more) as the Wherehouse ($18/CD 5 years ago!!!)

Sean- try this link below:

This is a no-frills CD site that has done me some good in the past. The best way to save money is if you can order at least a few CDs at a time so you can save on shipping costs. Decent selection, though I don't think they've got DVD-As or SACDs. Hope that helps.

If you have an interest in blues, jazz, r&b, New Orleans or Louisiana music, try www.louisianamusicfactory.com. I don't know if they have DVD-A, but they do have some dvd video. I can't vouch for online purchase; I'm a frequent visitor to the store.

Try www.mymusic.com. They are based in Ottawa and have better prices than most online sites. You may have to email them for newer releases though.

Much appreciated everyone for the feedback - looks like I have more than a few new places to check out. I was shocked to see Alan Parsons "I Robot" for $89 at SecondSpin.com. Discovered it was an MFSL print - I had never heard of the MFSL (Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab) before. Are the quality of these CD's really that good?
