the usage only 3000 hours! and the picture still look as good as a new set and the black level still at 0.006 as measure using Calman, same as 2 years back....so no floating black.... but...darn, when is this thing gonna break so that I could have an excuse to change to a 1080 FullHD 65" set..... look like I am gonna stuck with a 720p set for quite sometime.....

I thought you were supposed to be putting the Kuro in the bedroom to make room for the new 1080 in the main HT area.

There ya go, I am sure the Kuro has a better PQ than that Sony so you can easily justify the new expense

My brother and I have done extensive testing on his 46" LCD TV between 720p and 1080p.
We both concluded that at that size there was almost no difference in PQ between the two, sitting about 10 feet away.
Has any one else found similar results?
I suspect there would be a difference in a front projection system with screen sizes over 80"

According to those HT TV sizing charts a 46" TV at 720 or 1080 would look the same to most people upto about 6-8' away. As the screen size goes up so does the need for more lines of resolution when watching from the same viewing point to keep the picture crisp.

I just checked out Future Shops website, and they don't have any 720p LCD's over 40", and only 1 that's priced over $500 (32" at $650).
