If you're still skeptical , here are 2 referrals to start with, call for surround prepro upgrades.

Raymond Sarno in NY (631) 842-6279 we've done a number of upgrades for Raymond, Classe SSP-800
Richard Nelridge in PA (484) 951-4119 Onkyo 885, NuForce, Denon, Lavry, Audio Research etc, Rich has performed A-B comparisons

If you feel confident about the purchase and the company then that is all that matters. Mine or anyone else's opinion is basically irrelevant. Hopefully the upgrades will be worth it.

As a mentioned, my concern(and I verified this by checking the Onkyo website) is the Upgrade Company is not an authorized Onkyo dealer so combine that with the element that you are purchasing from the US, should you have any issues down the road, you will, obviously, have to rely on them for warranty service. Even more importantly, should any firmware updates be required, they are generally done via connection with the manufacturers website, however, unless you verify that you have purchased the unit from either an authorized dealer or reseller they won't allow it.

Although they tend to somewhat underplay such an issue on their website, that would probably be my major concern about such a purchase.

Shawn,

This is my career. I am not out to take your money and run. We have been in business for 30 years. The Upgrade Company name was formed in 2005. We make a ton of money doing upgrades, they do not get returned. We have a 14 day in home money back guarantee. If we were out to take your money and run we would not have this in place, nor be A+ rated by the BBB. Are you aware of this?

One look and listen to a Signature Edition upgraded Onkyo PR SC5508P and you'll be outright amazed: picture and sound quality increases you simply cannot get out of any stock gear or speakers. Have your friend read our reviewer comments, BBB report, we are A+ rated by the Nationwide Better Business Bureau, and contact some of our testimonial emails listed.

If you're still skeptical , here are 2 referrals to start with, call for surround prepro upgrades.

Like Casey said buy it and try it, If you are happy that is all that matters. I tend to think that the manufacturers would be building them this way if it really improved the PQ/SQ that much, they would control the market.

Shawn, my view is that any company(or individual DIYer, for that matter)that claims to be able to significantly "upgrade" audible performance with "quality" additions to an electronic component made by one of the major manufacturers can't be taken seriously. I did look at the Upgrade Company site and it appears to be the same old nonsense that I've seen from others trying to make a buck from tweaking a product whose performance is already excellent and is essentially untweakable. I note that at one point where a long list of positive attributes is given, the introductory phrase is "You can expect". At least that isn't a lie.

I kind of agree with all the others but heck, if it makes you happy and "for you" there is an improvement, that's all that matters in the end. Enjoy!

David, this is not a commentary on your company or you as a person...I have no opinion on that.

But I don't think it's EVER a good idea to post someones' contact information (your referrals) in a public forum.

You should have sent them in a PM instead.

I dunno, in checking the "Upgrades" website further, I couldn't help but notice that McIntosh, Classe and Mark Levinson were on the list for upgrades and modifications capabilities. You mean to tell me that after you have taken out a second mortgage on the house to be able to buy one of these pieces to begin with that the internal parts could "allegedly" still be improved upon for "better" performance?

Mind boggling.

Wait, is SBrown David Schulte (unlikely), or is he someone reposting emails he got from David Schulte? If so, it's REALLY uncool to post people's phone numbers on a public forum.
