Youse guys is smart, so I thought I's see what youse all got on this one: I'm doing a trade show next week and bought two Vizio 32" monitors for it. I was originally going to put each onto an A/V cart, but have decided today to mount them onto heavy-duty stands. I have several lightstands and PA-speaker stands that will easily support the monitors. (The PA-speaker stands are my preferred choice, see pic below) I bought two Monoprice flat panel mounts, and I'm trying to determine the best option to interface the mounts and the stands. I can attach a wood panel to a large block of wood, attaching the Monoprice mount to the panel and boring a hole partway into the bottom of the block to allow the whole thing to slip over the top of the stand. Anyone have any better idea? I was wondering if something could be done with hose clamps, but I'm not sure if I'd trust them. The Vizios are 22lbs; Monoprice doesn't give a weight for the mounts, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're 10~12lbs.

As much as I'll hate to have the first serious answer. I'd try something with quick release, bike seat clamps. Edit: Found Picture.

Murph, you'll be remembered in my will. As to the rest of you.....(!)
Of course, I'm trying to figure how a clamp like that would work in that I still have to mount it to a panel to hold the Monoprice mount.

You displayed a wooden bracket fixed to the TV and a rising pole tripod thingie. I envisioned one on pole to support the weight of the TV with a four inch neck or more extending up into the dowel hole of your wooden bracket.
Why? I suspect that the 1/16th or so edge where the pipe reduces at the top would not be sufficient to provide a comfy feeling for a heavy object on a wooden base. Swiveling or jiggling would begin to to dig into the wood. The clamp would not have that issue and also would add further adjustability. Alternatively adding an appropriately sized washer, countersunk into the bottom of the hole, could also prevent this problem as the edge would sit on metal. It might also increase the smoothness of swiveling, if desired.
If your riser tube was long enough, you could make the bracket hole go all the way through and put a 2nd clamp at the top to prevent someone from lifting it off of the bar accidentally and this could also be used to create additional pressure to prevent easy swiveling.
May not be the best solution, just the first one that came to my mind as i tend to think around what spare parts I have in my own garage.

I wasn't being critical, Murph, I just wasn't seeing what you were envisioning!

No worries Mark. It never occurred to me that you were. I was just trying to paint a better visual picture. I suspect you read a defensive nature into the text that wasn't intended at all. Always a danger with text base communication.

Well, look at Murph, all "helpful". A brief moment of weakness. I was sucked in by the pictures of his new puppy. It will never happen again, I promise!

Pretty broad statement to call all of us smart. BbigWyrz just makes the rest of us look good because of how intelligent his comments are.
