has anyone heard these 2 setups? I'm building my new HT; 19 x 19 x 9 (~3200 cubic ft). This will mainly be used for movies, occasionally for mmusic and gaming. I want a significant amount of low end power. Since these 2 setups are about the same cost, which would sound better? Thanks!

Since your room seem to be quite equal (mean you wont have subwoofer placement issue) I vote for the EP800 !

True, it will be a square room. My front 3 will be mounted to or standing close to the main viewing wall with a perferated screen in front of them. An EP800 would lay horizontal on the floor beneath the center - I would think. For the fronts, I was thinking of either 3 x M22's (altho I'm not sure if they're 'big' enough to fill the room) or a pair of M60's with a VP150.

With a perforated screen, you definetly want 3 identical mains. I'd opt for 3 M80's, then 3 M60's. 3 M22's with sub would work ok if you're restricted financially, or spacewise.

I would not assume any particular placement for the sub. It might not work as well in front as off to the side or even a rear room position. Only experience with moving the sub and/or using the sub crawl technic will determine the best location.

I am right in the middle of building my home theater as well with virtually the same set up with a perforated screen. From all the research I did and a hefty amount of input from this forum I went with m80's for the front 3 along with a ep 800 that will sit beneath the screen. As soon as I figure out how to post some pics I'll post them. Actually, can anyone give me a quick down and dirty on how to do that?

Just a comment about perf. screens that it is generally believed that a woven screen is better. Less sound resistance at all frequencies, and a better image... At least with the "moderately" priced ones.

I'm going with a Seymour XD screen. I vote for 2 subs. smile

Thanks CatBrat!

My room was 19x19 but with the false wall I built for the 800 and 80's, it is closer to 17x19 now. I am swamped tonight with work, but I will try to get some pics posted in the next couple of days. The room is currently getting mudded so almost there. The speakers should come in mid-January.

I am also going with Seymour XD. Anyone have any experience with thier screens in combo with Axiom?

The worst room is one with equal room measurements, or that can easily by divided into each other. 10 x 10 x 20 suck, but 12 x 9 x 23 would be better for room nulls/nodes. Multiple subs will give you the best results for all seats, if placed correctly. The 800 is a beast though.
