Trailer trash red headed step cousin?
Damn, i have to remember that one for sure, living out here in the prairies and all, in prime redneck country.

Hi Polara,
I seem to recall "Black Hawk Down" was nominated for best sound mix but I think "Pearl Harbor" won, which is also excellent. "Black Hawk Down" was terrific in the theater; I haven't tried renting it for home play yet.

Listed at the top of the DVD "Winner of 2 Acamedy Awards (2001) Best Film Editing, BEST SOUND".
I haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet, but if it sounds anywhere as good as "Star Wars Episode I", I'll be very impressed.

I watched black hawk down yesterday. They only have it DD 5.1, not DTS. This is a shame, the sound is the only reason I watched the movie. It would have been even better in DTS. It is better than that star wars movie, in my opinion, movie-wise, and maybe sound wise.

Give Atlantis - The Lost City a try, the movie itself, an animation, is just okay but the sound wave shacked my house a lot more than U-571 or Black Hawk Down did.

I actually though Black Hawk Down was terrible. It seemed like the movie that would never ever end. As for sound, halfway through the movie I was sick of listening to gunshots.

It's not saying much to be better than Star Wars I.
I prefer The Rock as my idiotic blow-em-up favorite.

I watched BHD today, for the first time, and must say I really enjoyed it.
Overall a good movie, but the sound... Let's just say Saving Private Ryan WAS my reference DVD. When people wanted to see and hear what my system could do, I'd throw it on. From now on, it's Black Hawk Down.
