In Maine we'd call a giant clam like that a "Cohog".
But...aparently, like everything else, we're odd. Here's what I found.

I knew that.
Anybody care to take a stab at my current residence of Puyallup?
Craig, obviously, that ain't no cohog. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that there are freakish shellfish in Maine, too.
It's pew-ALL-up, btw.

I was thinking it was "pull-ya-up", you know, the thing your drinking buddy does after you pass out on the floor soon after starting your fifth glass of barleywine.

In reply to:
when ordering.. its COKE.. then, waitress asks, "what flavor"? then you answer.. "mountain dew, dr pepper, etc".. its that easy..
Now that's funny. Here if the waitress says what would you like to drink and I said Coke, the response would be "is Pepsi ok??" hehe
It is funny how different areas have a dominant "cola" factor. Here Pepsi is the biggest. They have the most shelf space in the supermarkets. If I go to Pennsylnavia it seems Coke does. And when I have gone to places in Virginia and West Virginia RC Cola is the biggest. Personally I like RC, but it is really hard to find around here.

Spiffnme
so is that where the town name Quahog came from in Family Guy? The trophy they won for their parade float was a giant clam so that would make sense.

I live in MA for a while Spiffnme. The accent comes out sometimes when I drink so the poke with wicked smart was self-mocking... Oh, and can anyone properly pronounce peabody or worchester?
Lookout... here come the ma$$holes! ;-)
