I racked my brain and figured out a way to mount my M2v3 In-Wall/On-Wall speakers at an angle for DSX heights. Pretty cool, huh? Answers: 1. No, they won't fall down. They are secure. 2. No, I did NOT add any additional screws into the speaker wood. 3. I did it because I got the speakers at a very good price and couldn't afford the full bookshelf ones. Comments?

the only comment i have would be that i would have put the L brackets on the inside of your wood angle mounts. Maybe you could paint the L brackets to match the black, and the wall. So they will blend in better.
Other than that, looks like you came up with a creative solution to a "problem"

Yeah, I know. The L brackets are UGLY. That's a good point about getting the L brackets on the inside. I may go and do that. It's just a bit awkward to drill at that angle. Thanks!

Gotta say, that's pretty clever, and it looks pretty good!
Are the speakers permanently attached to the mounts? I was thinking maybe you could drill through them and do without the L brackets.

If you closed off the inside with another piece of wood between the 'rails', a backing plate, you could then mount to the wall through that plate and do away with the brackets all together. To allow the wire to come through just drill a hole through the backing plate where ever you need it to come through.

The way I got the speakers to stay attached is by pealing back a corner of the black sealing tape on the speaker's back to reveal Axiom's screws. I simply took out the screw and replaced with a longer one that attaches to the frame I built. So, I didn't have to drill any more holes into the speaker than were already there. I can simply push the tape back over and replace the original screw in the future if needed.

They sound great! Now, it makes my M80's sound like they are as tall as the entire wall.
I probably could have aimed them just a tad more toward the listening position, but I could still shave off some wood from the mounts I built. Still, better than having them angle straight ahead. Audyssey specifies speakers aimed toward the listening position.
