No, Debbie is bad!
She made me buy a pair of M100s. Then she made me buy an EP 500. Soon, she is going to make me buy 2 more EP500s.
Like I said, bad!
Thank you Debbie !

Just ordered the M22v4 and a VP150 v4 and grabbed the QS8v2 got the VP150 as going to run the subs anyways and the M22 are plenty for my room size. Will get the M80 HP and the VP160 once I build the addition on. jst couldn't get that 180 to setup correctly being that close and that small a room.

Nickbuol I have one of those SVS 20-39s, awesome sub. 8-M3s! Great speaker. What DIY sub did you put together?

Troy, I don't think you're giving up anything going with the VP160 rather than the 180. The VP160 is a wonderful center speaker.

Nickbuol I have one of those SVS 20-39s, awesome sub. 8-M3s! Great speaker. What DIY sub did you put together? I basically built a SVS 20-39 Pci clone, minus the cylinder. I had an extra amp that I got from SVS when I was having some really odd issue where my SVS would randomly (after about 6 months of ownership and being connected to the same gear and electrical outlet) go to what seemed like max volume and a super deep note. I tried plugging it in elsewhere in the house and it would still do it. Even disconnected from everything but power it would still come out of standby mode and do it. They sent a new amp, didn't want the old one back... New amp did the same thing. I then just out of dumb luck bought a small single outlet surge protector... Problem went away. Now I had a spare amp. Bought a Dayton Audio 12" Reference HF woofer (can't recall the exact model, but it is the one that a lot of people use with great success) as my closest option to duplicate the woofer in the SVS. Built the cabinet with the same internal cubic feet, found images online to guestimate the amount of foam fill material. Used the same size port, and configured it "port up, woofer down" like the SVS. The only significant difference, besides being a lot heavier, is that there is no built in wood "plate" under the feet, so it technically fires straight down into carpet. I've toyed with getting a simple 1/8" piece of MDF and putting that under the sub, but others have told me that it really won't make much difference as the carpet isn't really stopping the woofer from performing well. So it is a beast. If I ever sold by SVS and my "audio clone" of it, I would build probably dual 15" or maybe even 18" front firing subs. Maybe not ported either just for more of that "thump in your chest" feel. The dual sub setup with ported 12" gets nice and deep and does great with explosions or "muscle car rumbles" but I think that I would almost rather have the sharp attack of a sealed sub.

I use my 20-39 along with a Velodyne 12" in a 9.2 system for mostly home theater, though I love it for music as well. I have the sealed EP500 in a 2.1 music system, and agree that the sealed sub provides sharper attacks. I blew up a Kenwood SW300 and replaced the woofer with a Dayton Titanic 10". I use it as a stand for my printer. Nice big driver, but I didn't do a great job of sealing the woofer to the cabinet.
This has been a bad year for my subs. My twin 12" Epik Legend finally failed, one Dahlquist PDQ1500 started putting out acrid white smoke along with its powerful bass, and my second Dahlquist just stopped working.
I am looking at the Dayton twin 12" kit, but even at discount it is $850. Figure another EP500 or 2 will serve my 2 channel tube music system, but that's serious coin.
Tight, musical bass makes it all sound so much better!

one Dahlquist PDQ1500 started putting out acrid white smoke along with its powerful bass If I had to guess, it blew a capacitor....something you can replace yourself if you're handy with a soldering iron. A studio flash blew a capacitor on-location in a clients' antique studio during a photoshoot once. It output white smoke, smelled horrible, and it "peed" on his carpet! If you opened up the cabinet and saw signs of a liquid in there, I'd feel even more confident that it was just a cap.
::::::: No disrespect to Axiom, but my favorite woofer is my yellow lab :::::::

Opened the cabinet, found a pile of white powder from fire extinguisher. Did not observe any sign of charring or liquid.
