I've been going to uTube and playing stuff off searches like "deep base test" and "deep base music" to test out my Subs ... That got me thinking ...

I should ask YOU ,..

Tell us how deep your subs can go ... and what do you play to show them off?
(I'm looking for real music but test tracks are also ok)

Thanks Mojo ... I'll check them out ...

When listening to stuff I'm surprised by what people present as hearable low tones ... my hearing cuts out around 28 Hz (I can hear a bit below that If I crank it ... but I can't listen to music that loud). Some you tube vids present a 15hz tone ... and I'm like "I can hear that" but I'm pretty sure the tone is not a sine wave and I'm hearing the harmonics ,,,

Some info ... a 4 string double bass goes down to almost 41HZ ... and a 5 Sting to about 31 HZ. Off hand the only non-electronic instrument I can think of that goes lower is a pipe organ (some to 16Hz)

The drums you love so much are way above that ...

You wanted "musical bass" and those tunes above are very musical. How musical depends on how well you've tuned your system. I hear transparent growls, textures and nuances that permeate the interstitial spaces of my quarks.

Yup, the fundamental is above infrasound but some instruments have subharmonics in the infrasound range.

Yup, you're not hearing 15Hz but rather resonances.

Trevor, Rich asked for music...LOL!

Those last two are making the mid-woofer on the M2OW work really hard. I get 180 degree envelopment BTW.

Doesnt get much harder. laugh

If you want bass check out Brian Bromberg.

If you want BASS check out electronic or synth bass.

The fundamentals for drums and bass guitar are above his target frequency range.

I still have pretty good luck using the first few minutes of Pink Floyd's Echoes (off the Meddle album) for testing bass response. It's not loud bass but goes fairly low, with runs of notes on the low string of an electric bass, octave jumps, and very clean sound.

Most speakers will tell you that something is going on down there, but I find relatively few speakers let you clearly make out how the notes are going up and down in pitch.

EDIT - just re-read the thread and realized that it was for testing subs not speakers. Never mind...

Trevor, my son and his girl know and love all these bands and songs you posted (except Bjork). I guess I don't go to enough raves.

I do not listen to Spotify, so can't link to anything there....

Look for a band called The HU. The most popular song is Wolf Totem. They are a Mongolian band that uses 'throat singing'. I guess some would call them heavy metal, but I don't. I don't know what genre they are. Deep instruments, base, some flute, deep vocals, a bit dark. Interesting enough for me to buy one CD. Probably not a second.

Forgot about that one! Good for sure. Classic!

When I was 17 there was a Chemical Brothers song called “Under the influence” with bass sweeps in it.

I had an 8” sub in a GMC S15 that I had a lot of fun with. I was going to recommend it but as an adult it sounds pretty awful. Lol.

My ears give out long before the actives do on that Axel F tune.

I have them crossed to the 500s at 40Hz and have the 800 set in my receiver for double-bass when listening in stereo or simulated surround. The 500s are turned up 75%. The 800 is at 40%. The subs can take it but the HP drivers start to misbehave after my ears give out. That's at 107dBC peaks at 14 feet away.

I'm powering them with a 1500-2. I suppose if anyone wants to crank them higher, they can cross them higher.
