Hi,

My VP150 is about 1 month old - when I first placed it on top of my TV and did a demo with "Pearl Harbour' I noticed a vibrating buzz on some dialog - the middle woffer had a indent in it (perhaps a pushed it in while placing the speaker atop my set, I didn't take off the grill up to that point so I don't know if it was like that out of the box)....I was able to push out the dent, and it seemed alright....or was it?

Recently I've heard the vibrating buzz here and there on some dialog.....I brushed it off as me being paranoid, or poorly recorded dialog, or loud volumes....I even think taking off the speaker Grill helps....

But tonight I was watching 'Kiss Of the Dragon' on DVD (5.1 DD sound) and I noticed several buzzes on dialog....with one REAL anoying sequence at Chapter 8-29:08 with the dialog...."and then for some reason he went completly insane.." several little buzzes on the dialog.

Now Joe has already said if there's a problem with the woofer he'd send me a new one, but I was wondering if anyone else on the board with the VP150 and 'Kiss of The Dragon' could test it out, and see if it's infact the DVD or if it's specific to my speaker...

Any help appreciated!

I noticed a metallic high-pitched buzz with some movies when I got my VP150. On inspection, one of the tweeters was dented. While Amie doubted it would affect the sound, she sent me a new tweeter no questions asked.

Problem solved.

You might as well replace the woofer and take it from there.

I agree with fhw.
If you can actually isolate the noise to one woofer and it occurs with more than one dvd, which by your experience it seems to have done just that, then have Joe send you a new woofer.
If you want to test it another way yourself, swap the position of the buzz woofer for another woofer in the vp150, play the dvd again, and see if the same woofer still makes the buzz.

I'm having trouble isolating the buzz to one woofer...my best guess is either the left of center woofer....

What does replacing the woofer entail? Any soldering? I'll give Joe a call for a new one.

Thanks

The woofer replacement is simple.
Joe can tell you about it but no, soldering is not requied. It will be a simple wire clipped into the back.
Just don't use anything that could damage the finish when popping out the woofer. One of mine was a little sticky in the hole but i just kept teasing it with my fingernails until i could get a good grip.
You can always pop out your woofers now before joe sends a new one, swap their locations and see if the buzz noise moves in relation to your woofer swapping. Might help you to figure out which one(s) is buzzing.
