I just hooked up the surrounds and a center channel. After I got things back in order it seemed the digital audio out from the HD Receiver (Pioneer from Time Warner) was not delivering a good signal. The sound was weak and faded in and out. I tried Digital 2 input, making sure there was no kink and it was the same. Is this typical of a damaged cable? Sound worked fine from a digital toslink hooked to the DVD so the amp and speakers seem to be OK.

try a different RCA cable, you never know. It could be that the source gives a different output from coax as well
good luck!

Asking the obvious question - did you enable the output in your receiver set up?

After re-connecting everything and making sure the outputs matched it was obvious I'd hooked some things up wrong. Everything is fine now.
Thanks
