I just thought I would chime in from London where I do not have my Axioms. They are locked in storage in San Luis Obispo for the summer. So everyone who knows what it is like to be without their HT, please play some excessively loud music or movie for me!
Off to my first day of work tomorrow.

Bit of a snippy wicket, eh wot? Good on you Yank! Take full advantage of the experience, but remember that when they mention the word "pie" relative to food, it IS NOT going to be what you expect. I love England and the Brits, but beer at room temperature?? That has to be breaking at least one of the Commandments.

I have, unfortunately, gone several rounds with warm Iron City. You likely feel my pain.

Room temp? I had the same fear until I spent a lot of time there on business. Nothing beats a fresh poured pint of bitter at the tavern. Excepting doing it while making fun of the "soccer" versus our real American football, which of course you have to do at only the most forgiving of taverns...

Welcome to London Snippy, I've been here for the last 8 months and I SORELY miss my M3s. They're locked up at a friend's place (fear of burglary).
London's lovely at this time of the year. Enjoy yourself thoroughly over here. The 1000 year history it has can be seen when you visit all the attractions. The Brits are nuts about lager. Do have a go at some fine scotches, irish creams etc. and of course "football".
Not much here in terms of the audio industry (compared to the USA). I have listened to Tannoys, B&W and plenty of Wharfedales. Nothing beats my M3s in the same range till now. Maybe, just maybe, Mission comes close. Tannoys are great but quite expensive too. You'll find London expensive for almost anything and everything. Yes, Beer is expensive here too.
If you fancy, you could have a nice dinner or lunch in THE ANCHOR. Its a 400 year old pub just off London Bridge where Shakespeare used to hang around. Food and ambience are very good and they stock a decent range of drinks too.
Have fun, and if you're at all interested in picking up any electronics, the cheapest place in London is Richer Sounds (www.richersounds.co.uk). Still, nothing holds a candle to the sheer variety available in the US and Canada.
Cheers

Any chance you'll be able to catch any of the Wimbledon over the next week or so? If you can, I envy you big time!

Hey Snippy - please keep us posted about your adventure. I would relish the opportunity to learn from your experience.
With the *possible* exception of a fresh, cask conditioned ale, they're not served at "room" temperature, but at "cellar" temperature (which is ~54 degrees farenheit).
And Ray, if you keep comparing warm Iron City to real Ale, I'm going to find a way to make sure that you spend eternity in that "chick flick" thread
bibere usque ad hilaritatem

The beer has been cold at every bar/pub I have went to. It is the water that is served room temperature.

Snippy,
If you like Indian food, London has lots of excellent Indian restaurants. And Italian spots, too.
And you know how Tannoy started? Making foghorns! In fact, "Tannoy" has become a generic word in the U.K., like aspirin. A "tannoy" means a big, fat horn-loaded public-address speaker. We are not talking fidelity here. . .
