Thinking of it, I guess I could buy the Qs first and listen to them as a stereo pair for a while. If I don't like it, it only means I bought my surrounds first.

As you can see in the layout below, my real problem is that my wife sits so close and off-center on that north sofa. Direct-firing speakers means she gets nothing. I think what's shown for speaker placement represents my best shot at a conventional layout. But it means that only the west sofa gets good sound.

That's the driver for my interest. I'm thinking that reflected sound might mean everybody gets to hear everything at more the same volume, even if nobody gets a good image.
