So, getting us back on track for a minute...

What is the verdict? To bi-amp or not?

It seems that the benefits might outweigh the cost (in both terms of extra wire and time/energy).

My impression is that using your rear surrounds as a second room and re-routing sound through the receiver sounds like a lot of work (and might result in varied volume conditions). I could have just read wrong though, but it sounds like a fudged "end around" using the amp in a way that it wasn't really intended to be used.

I will use my rears for 7.1, but will likely not use my second room capability. Should I wire the fronts with the "A" and "B" outputs? Will that get me a bi-amp or a bi-wire?

Any thoughts would be helpful.

The A and B setup on the Denon 3805 is when you have four rear speakers. One set would be for movies (maybe an extra pair of QS8's) and one pair for music (maybe a pair of M22ti's). See page 22 of the owners manual.

If you choose to use Zone 2 without a preamp, my understanding is it uses the rear channel to Zone 2 and you then would only have 5.1.

Adrien, the front A and B terminals on your 750 can't be used for bi-amping(not that it would be of significant value anyway)because there're no extra amps involved. They're merely a parallel connection to the left and right front amps, primarily to allow connecting a second set of speakers(in parallel)to carry the same signals, and usually but not necessarily in a different area. The B terminals can also be used as a somewhat more convenient way of making a bi-wire connection(i.e. instead of having to connect two wires to each A terminal), but bi-wiring has no advantage.

Thanks, John. I had a creeping suspicion that this was the case. Not that it really matters that much. I trust the crossovers in the speakers will handle everything just fine. Just a curiosity.

Sorry for my ignorance, but here is my understanding
how bi -amp works for AVR with separate amps for each channel.

for ex. PE 45 TX is 7.1, but it might be switched to 5.1 and two rear back will be used for 1. A/B or a second zone
If I use A/B and connect surr back to tweeter terminals on the speaker and main fronts to woofer terminals then AVR will supply 100W (tweeter) + 100W (woofers) after filtering by capacitor/coil ( simple crossover) effective power will be reduced to, let say 70W (woofer) + 70W ( tweeter )

the main idea is that by using separate amps we avoid damaging/distorting tweeter/highs when ( if using the same amp ) lows drow most of the power and tweeter distort sound.

So, it is not about power gain, it is about cleaner/safer sound.
And, once again, of course, you will HEAR almost no difference - and that is a good thing if you crank your system's sound all the way up

OK, have a look at this rather interesting (but complicated) article, which deals with biamping (and also explains why it's fairly useless without an external crossover).
