Anyone know where he went? I have not seen him post in a while and don't recall a posting from him saying he was going to be away.

I've seen him reading posts. (Who's Online can be quite informative!) He's probably just laying low for a bit.
At least, I'm pretty sure I saw him yesterday or the day before.

I've missed his posts. Hope all is well. Hope he's not mad at us like Bren, and Ray? After the Arun Gupta tragedy, I get spooked any time someone precipitously ceases posting.

He is crazy busy at work, but fear not, he will return.

Thanks for the heads up and good to hear. I worried that due to the last troll he might have felt the need to go away. I would miss Mr Bear reading pr0n!

He is working on another cool project, I'm sure he will post a bit about it when he has the time.

He is quite busy turning the epic film 'Catwoman' into IMAX resolution. And working on secret movies he cannot tell us about.

a stuffed bear, yes.. it has become the unofficial mascot of the forum. mr bear likes lounging on the couch, going on vacation, listening to hi-fi, and reading porn.. how can you not like this animal.

I think spiff would not mind if I quote his email to me:
'Catwoman was canceled for IMAX at the very last second by WB. (They're having a tough time getting just the 35mm version ready in time for release.) So we some how scored Spiderman 2. The catch being, we needed to get it finished in time to be released on 7/23, just as Catwoman was supposed to. It's been crazy busy... '

Yep...Spiderman 2 will be hitting IMAX screens on 7/23. My part of the work has just finished up. All I can say is go see it...the dailies I've seen looked amazing.
btw...thanks for thinking of me! I have been reading some of the threads over the past couple weeks - I just haven't had the time to post much.

Excellent news and welcome back! I saw Spidey2 already and was very happy with it. Not on a level of Empire Strikes Back, but definitely very much above average for a sequel.
Next up is irobot.
I would also recommend Napoleon Dynamite to everyone. It had me laughing from beginning to end. Of course having been a skinny dork in high school my have had some impact on that (as if I ever stopped being a skinny dork...)

Spidey 2 kicked Spidey 1's ass. I was happy to see that Raimi didn't rely on "more action" to make the sequel better, instead choosing to dial back the action and the comic book style flying through building stuff and dialing up the story/plot/emotion. Seeing Spidey flip through the air is cool, but it gets old. You can't watch that crap more than a few times before it becomes tedious. That's not to say that I don't love it - but it loses its flavor after a few chews.
ANyway - go see it on the big screen if you get a chance. Better yet, go see it at Imax - which is probably going to be just simply awesome.
Sidenote - the discrete audio coming from the surrounds in both movies was just plain cool. I loved being in teh theater and feeling voices and stuff fly over my head. Very enveloping, if not a little showy (which I like).

IMAX...that is good news. I didn't see it yet...might as well wait for the IMAX now That's if I can get my wife to go to that version instead....I don't think she likes IMAX for some reason.

If you sit too close, IMAX can make you dizzy.
The reason behind it is that if too much of your peripheral vision is filled with motion, your brain gets confused and thinks you're moving, too. I know that I have to sit far back enough that the edges of the screen are clearly visible, anchored to the sides of my vision, so to speak.

Those are some pretty good points Capt.
Though I admit to personal bias. I've been a fan of Sam's since I saw evil dead for the first time as a teenager. That is the movie that hooked me on horror and cheesy b-flicks.

Sam sure has come a long way since then, huh? From improvisation on the set - and a story looser than, well Richard Gere and a 10-12 inch gerbil, to a $200 million budget. I'm just glad that they picked someone with enough knowledge about the comics to incorporate the action, the lore and the true conflict of the character found therein. Couple that with his patience in waiting to spring characters on us - by slowly introuducing us to the characters who will become important later int he series - fanboys get their kicks and roun dout the series on repeat viweing later, and make for a more cohesive story...(think X-Men too...)
Can't wait to see the next installments of each.

jack - "...mad at us like Bren and Ray". Wow - nothing could be further from the truth. Simple problem with work getting in the way and some business travel thrown into the mix. Sweeten with some good golf weather and I am drinking from the tart cup of "I wish I had more time available". On the other hand, I AM wasting quite a bit of time sleeping at night. Another problem is the prolific posting that is becoming the norm here. It is really hard to keep up if you miss a day or two. I am a happy guy when I can check myself into the asylum here and spread innocuous and useless bits of input and advice from time to time.

Thanks...I mentioned it to her last night and that's what she said happened to her. She got dizzy. I'll have to tell her about that and make sure we sit towards the back if I can get her to go.
I just want to go for the better sound...I don't care about the screen part as much.

did any of ya'll who have seen spider-man 2 notice that the guy who was watching the door at the theater, and wouldnt let peter parker in to see mary-jane, was the same guy from the picture above and the same guy from the evil dead series?? he was older, and a little fatter, but it was the same guy..
just curious if any one else caught that.. ALSO, who saw the stan lee cameo?? when spider man was on the side of the building trying to save his granny from doc-ock, there was some debris that fell down to the street.. there was a quick scene when this old man grabbed this young girl, and pulled her out of the way from the falling debris.. that was stan lee!! if you goi see it again, or for the first time, look for it!!

Stan Lee made a cameo in the first movie too. He's also been in the Hulk and one other movie of his. It's kind of neat to see him in his movies.
His name is Bruce Cambell. He was also the wrestlign ring announcer in Spidey 1. He and Raimi kind of got their start together.

I met Bruce at a book signing a couple years ago. Friends and I actually stood in line for like 4 hours. It was almost midnight before we got up to him. He started getting goofy, some chicks phone rang and he demanded to answer it. He went on to joke around with the person on the phone. He was very down to earth, and he made waiting all that time very worth it.
