"But, can it handle the 4 ohm m80s? Something tells me that Alan would still suggest we opt for HK or Denon".

LittleB:

Maybe so, but not everybody thinks HK and Denon rules the world. There's a lot of damn good receivers out there, HK and Denon are not by any means the only two.

I know alot of people likes HK and Denon, and I'm not one who dislikes them, but I like you have my opinions too.

If you don't like Pioneer, that's fine buddy. However they're a lot better receivers then you give them credit for. So are Yamaha and Onkyo for that matter.

As far as the M80's go, well not everybody owns the M80's, therefore it's rather irrelevant. It's only relevant to those who do own them.

These are just my opinions though, I could be wrong.

I was just suggesting that there might be better alternatives to the 1014 in that price range. On the other hand, there might not. I own Pioneer products and I don't have any objections to them. They've never let me down. There are 2 Pioneer receivers in my household now. They are like energizer bunnies. They will never wear out. I can't say that about the HK I owned years ago. I'm not denegrating the 1014 in any way.

That's something I'll have to do a little more research on, cause as of right now I couldn't tell ya.

I mean the new Onkyo 602, from what I've read about it sounds pretty sweet. It too sells for $499, but it doesn't have everything the 1014 has.

Now the new Denon 2105 sounds pretty damn sweet, but it's about a $149 bucks more. Crutchfield has it for $649.

Now if a person doesn't mind and is able to do so of course, spend a little more then $500, then that new Denon might be a better option, but I'm not sure. Or one could get the Yamaha HTR-5790 which basically the same receiver as the RX-V1400 for as low as $558.

This guy just was delivered to my door yesterday.

Still connecting it all, so I have yet to turn it on, but the weight itself is pretty massive.

Anxious to see how it compares to my 5 year old Pioneer Elite VSX-14!

I hope you'll be as happy with 1014 as I'm with mine PE2012 - tryied Onkyo, different HKs - voted for PE on the price/futures/sound quality scale. No regrets

Right, pf, these deals change practically every day. The 1014 is available now for as little as $360 plus shipping.

man..

what about the Yammie?

i am more than happy with the performance and power

i just wish i had seen it on sale at $599 when I paid $800 with shipping

seriously though

i was inches from the Denon 3805 and in retro would still have a tough call between the 2400 the 3805 and one of the Pioneers in that class
