I was just browsing through this weekend's LA Times "Home Design Issue". (A special supplement this weekend.) When I got to their recommended systems, they suggested a "Super Maggie system" ($25,935) for those with no budget constraints, and the AXIOM EPIC 80 ($2,413) system for "middle of the road" systems!

Their pick for "Down to Earth", was the Mirage NANOSAT system ($800).

Way to go Axiom!

Am I the only one surprised that the LA Times recommended the Axioms?

Actually spiff i'm having deja vu here.
I looked through something not a couple of months ago that was a list of the top 50 best electronics of the year (or something to that effect).
Within it i found several HT packages and if i recall correctly, they had one of the axiom systems listed at #8 or 12 on the list. There were 2 other HT packages ahed of Axiom and the remaining electronics were other funky gadgets.
I think i sent the link to Amie, but quite some time ago.
In any event, the article was really unexpected and i was equally surprised to find an Axiom HT system in its roll of items. The Segway i could understand, but a couple of HT systems as best electronics of the year?
Well what the heck then. Their new subs may make headlines again this year. Go Axiom!

I guess maybe everyone is to shocked to respond.Were they review samples or does someone from the Times own them?

Gawd I hate the LA Times. Turn down free copies at the store all the time. Worst paper in the world - even if they do know good sound.

Yeah, Kevin Thomas must be the most bitchy reviewer of movies in the world. He never gives a positive review.

Spiff- I saw this and was going to post something about it, too. Glad you beat me to it because I didn't have the paper in front of me to quote from it.

It was great to see some well deserved props for Axiom.

But as far as the special section was concerned, I was rather disappointed in the lack of electronic equipment discussion, though, as it seemed that the entire section was dedicated to room design, rather than electronics. Eh... at least it was semi-interesting for a Sunday AM read.

I too was a bit disapointed. Though the cover was saying how a dedicated HT was becoming more and more popular, they seemed to dwell mostly on the super high end rooms that most people can only dream of. Like you said too, they were more interested in the decor than the gear.
