Great areticle/ review of the new subs and cool pictures from Gene De La Salla respecrted editor of Audioholics.com
Lots of graphs and technical jargon. but it seems they will sound as good as the rest of our speakers.(Engineering guys please translate!) Can't wait to get mine though! Very kind words for how gracious and helpful the people in this company are. That sure has been my experience.

Reponse from Clint De Boer (editor Audioholics) when I asked how do the new Axiom subs compare to comparable priced SVS and HSU subs:
"These Axiom subs will compete BIG TIME with SVS and Hsu - the Axiom crew knew that was their competition before they started."

Is that also in regards to price point?
The Hsu VTF-3MK2 has been measured flat to 18hz, and is $700-800 depending on the finish.

oops But still looking at the specs(which I realize do not tell the whole story), the VTF-3 is comparable and a few bills less expensive.
If he is comparing them to the TN1220 from Hsu then at $1200, which is the best sub I have heard...that is great praise!....and keep wondering how one would look in the corner of my room....
Maybe I can get Amie to send one of the new Axiom subs out here for spiff and I to play with.

You know what...after reading that article, I came away wanting to live up there in Canada more than I wanted a new sub. Hmmmm....That's one heck of a life they're living up there. (Yeah, I miss Maine sometimes)

I wish they would do that. I'm eagerly awaiting some really totally unbiased third person experimentation with these things. OOPS! In that case, they shouldn't send one to you, should they. Now, no flames, Curtis. I'm just ing. (Keep in mind that I'm a HSU owner and supporter.) But you do tend to prefer HSU, no?
These subs ARE expensive. I'm sure the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) is a factor in that, and I still don't quite understand what it does (smooth out the frequency response via EQ?), and how it does it.

Yes...out of the subs I have heard, I do prefer Hsu. Is it hard to believe they make the best cost effective subs?
But I will admit, a brief listen to the SVS PB10-ISD at the HTF show here in LA, I would like to get a more extensive listen to it.
I would let spiff do all the talking though....since he owns Axiom and Hsu.....and has heard the SVS I had here.
I think you are right about the DSP being used as an EQ in this instance. Digital Signal Processing just means it is all done in the digital domain.

I'm sure part of the pricey price is the "free" shipping.

I'll second that - although the subs look good, too!

Absolutely not hard to believe!.......as long as you keep in mind that "best" (certainly), and "better" (in most cases), is a completely SUBJECTIVE decision. One man's ceiling is another man's floor.

Me to but the water temp was not 79F! More like 40F but hey for this time of year up here the weather has been great. I have seen snow by this time in the past and as I sit here it's a sunny day and the temp is holding at 70F.

Well I don't know about you, but I certainly don't have it. (Do you think my friends will feel left out if I have room for only one chair in the room after adding all the new, and larger, equipment?)

What kind of boat you got, bigjohn?
Room on there for an EP600? (gotta keep it on topic, right?)
I saw an article on Elephant Butte Lake (name?) in NM. Been there?

i have a 1975 sea-ray 190.. its older, but it still runs like a champ. i actually got a great deal on it 5 years ago. i am the third registered owner, and the boat has been in the same family for 19 years before i bought it.
here is the best pic i could find on the net.. my boat is the exact same body style as this, but it is yellow.. we call it 'The Nanner'..
unfortunately, my wife and i have discussed it, and we are gonna sell it. the floor needs replacing, and we just cant go to the lake as often with the new baby. so, i figure we get rid of it, and maybe buy me a harley.. or not?? what ever the 'better-half' wants to do.
and it has seating for 8, but no room for an EP600, sorry

I don't generally like I/Os but you're making me wish I were in a position to buy it from you because I like the way boats were built back then. My parents have a 1977 Invader that I hope to get one day ...
Where do you ski (I'm also in Texas)?

Which is much preferable to the 65HP power enema in every way.

i live in san angelo(west texas), so our local lake is lake nasworthy. the city just finished a massive lake-dredging project 2 summers ago, and the lake is a lot cleaner, and deeper now. its still pretty small, around 10,000 acre/ft..
we have gone to several other lakes in the central texas area.. lake buchanan, lake whitney, lake travis, inks lake, lake ivie, and once to lake amistad down in del rio.. that is the biggest dang lake i have ever seen.. at only 70% capacity, it has about 2.5 million acre/ft..
where are you??

None of us have heard the new Axioms (except chesseroo I think) so...
I wouldn't opt for the PB2 if it were me - I want something tall like my M60s. EP600 is likely out of my budget regardless of its performance, so... SVS PC+ 20-39? Santa, did you hear that?

Mark,
Check with SVS. Unless you have an incredibly large room, you would do well with the 20-39PCi and save a few bucks. I'm using one in a 16x22x10 room that opens into a 14x20 kitchen. I have the gain at about 40% and I have plenty of LFE. Of course, as always, you must balance need with want .

I'm in San Antonio. Have been to Medina Lake a couple of time - about 25 miles west of here. Grew up in Central Florida skiing every day.

SVS looks at the the PB2-Plus as their best bang for the buck subwoofer. So if you have $1300 to spare, get that one. If you have $2000 (reg. black) $2400 (shiny casing) for the PB2-Ultra, that has the best SVS drivers they make (Ultra). Or if you have that much money...hold out for the new Axiom subs and let us all know how it is
PS - I have the PB2 Plus and love it. I recently changed my settings from the 25 Hz port setting to 16 Hz. WOW! What a difference 9 Hz makes! I was watching Stargate SG-1 and a meteor hit the ground...I felt like I was right there standing with them feeling the tremor. And don't get me started about The Phantom Menace...that movie is just an a non-stop onslaght of bass.
Whatever you pick, I'm sure you'll enjoy.
