Hey guys. I am thinking about buying a Pioneer VSX-1014Tx-K and this place has them for $374 with shipping to my area (Baltimore MD, 21210). I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

Ecoustics also have a bunch of other stores listed that sell the product at under $400 with shipping. Does anyone have any suggestions now that my poor Yamaha is starting to give me troubles?

Also, does anyone know if the 2014 is out yet, and if it is, where can I purchase one and for how much money? I think I would value the IEEE 1394 support for future expansion into multichannel audio formats.

Sorry but I know squat about the 1014 or the 2014.

Will, I haven't had any personal experience with that company, but since nobody else here apparently has either, I'll comment that their customer ratings seem reasonably satisfactory and that maybe that's all you can go on. You can find horror stories about practically any dealer. The 1014 is a real buy at that price.

As far as I know the 2014(which does have the i.LINK)is available only in Europe at this time.

Thanks for the responses... I think I'm going to bite on that one since I'm getting a bit impatient waiting for the 2014. I'll try to give it one more month of waiting for the 2014... MUST... RESIST... TEMPTATION TO BUY NOW...

I did a bit more looking on the web and found this page for a marginal $10 more after shipping, and cnet rates it highly. I think I'll go with that site if I end up not waiting for the 2014.

I know that the 1014 is basically a Elite 52Tx minus a few features like RS-232c connectivity and a proprietary Pioneer link (or at least that's what the consensus online is), but does anyone know which Elite the 2014 is similar to?

If it is indeed as similar to one as the 1014 is to the 52Tx, I'd think it would either have to be the 55 or 56 because they have iEEE1394 as well. Then again, the casing looks like the 52Tx. I wonder if it's the same as the 1014/52tx but with iEEE1394 added... Hmm...

Hi.

I bought my Pioneer VSX-1014 from GoPCPlus, and was very happy with the price, the Speed and the Condition of the Receiver (New, undamaged).

My one complaint, (turned out to be a non issue, read further), is that they seem to take every other Thursday and Friday off.

I did not know this, and placed my order on Wed around 1 pm central time.

I paid extra for 3 day shipping.

The next day, I noticed that my online order status did not change (said "pending") and stayed this way until Monday Morning. I called on Thursday (day after ordering) and got the recording that said they were closed.

While fuming about this on Thurs Fri Sat and Sun, I checked my order on Mon morning, still said pending, checked it later on that morning, and my order was updated, with a UPS or Fedex (or whomever) tracking number, and when I checked the status, it showed that it was delivered to my doorstep on Monday Morning (it was!).

So it WAS shipped on Thurs, and I did receive 3 day shipping (I guess Sat is not included).

Very Very pleased with the receiver. I am going to see how it will handle the M80's (when I order them).

Hope this helps.

Thanks BuddTX... This makes me wish I would have waited a few more days to order my 1014... I just bought it from ibuydigital for $403. Oh well - what is ~$20 in the long run. I felt more confident with ibuydigital because of their ratings, but had i known about your experience I would have gone GOPCPLUS. Glad that it got to you undamaged and quickly.

Anyways - I will most likely get mine tomorrow (or at the latest friday), so I am pretty excited.
