I'm having technical difficulty. I just got the Denon DVD-2200 and hooked it up to my Denon AVR-3805. I hooked it up with the seperate channel interconnects(mains, center, sub, and surrounds) I get DVD picture on the tv but no sound playing either CD's or DVD's. Has anyone had this trouble and if so how did you fix it.
Thanks in advance

This is just a hunch, but I think those analog outs are only used with SACD and DVD-A, not DVD (digital out) or CD (digital or 2 channel analog out). Try hooking up a digital cable. You should probably reassign some inputs on the receiver to line things up proper.

Ken's right. You gotta run either an optical, or coaxial digital cable to your receiver, and, in the appropriate menu in your receiver (probably "Input Setup Menu," or something like that), be sure the digital input is set to the input you have the DVD connected to.

Mac, briefly, as Ken and Jack said, those multiple analog connections are really only necessary for DVD-A/SACD, and you've only mentioned CDs and DVDs. The first thing is to take one of those cables and connect the 2200's digital coax output to the 3805's digital coax input.

I have 2 SACD's and have noty tried them yet.I'm going out to the stereo room now to try DSOTM. I'll let you know if it works. If not I'll get the digital'optical cable and try it.
Thanks for the inputs so far.

Mac, there's no need to buy an optical cable. You apparently have plenty of coaxial cables and one of them can be used for the digital connection. Also, as always, study both owners manuals to try to get the right settings.

With my Sony DVD player I also had to go into the menus and enable the digital output from the DVD player -- it was turned off by default so there was only a signal on the stereo analog outputs. Your Denon probably won't need this, I mention it just in case you hook up with a digital connection and it *still* doesn't work.

The SACD disk still did not work. John, I'm not using coax cables, just plain old analog interconnects. That might be my problem right there.

That shouldn't be a problem. Cables is cables, or at least cables enough to hear something if you're of the expensive cable persuasion.
How do you have everything hooked up? Does your receiver have a separate setting for 5/6/7/8 channel inputs? Mine does, but it's an H/K. I wouldn't unplug part of the 6 cable bundle to use as a digital cable (that would be a pain to put back, JohnK!), but if you've got an extra analog interconnect/coax/RCA cable/hanger with RCA plugs at the ends lying around, use that.
