I haven't purchased any new stereo equipment in 15 years and am therefore not up on the times. I have a 2-channel setup with a B&K power amp, Adcom tuner/preamp, and 16 year old Axiom speakers.

My question is this - to move to a 5-speaker home theater, what new electronic components do I need to purchase? I assume I cannot power the whole thing through my 2-channel amplifier. Can I continue to use it, however, or must it be junked in favor of a "home theater" amplifier?

Thanks in advance.

You could incorporate your current amplifiers into your new system with 3 new similar amplifiers (front R&L and center) and a processor. This would be more expensive than just purchasing an all in one processor and 5-channel amp receiver but it will more than likely be a better system also.
