My 2+ year old JBL PB-12 subwoofer, which I got a really good deal on, and was very happy with didn't survive the move to my new house. (It didn't get damaged, but the amp auto-power circuit fails and turns it on/off all the time making pops and clicks that are annoying.) Anyhow I decided to upgrade a little and got the EP600. Boy is it big. There is no comparision between what my PB12 can do and what the EP600 can do. (I did a comparision last night and the PB12 was chuffing, and emmitting a burning electronics smell without sounding very good, while the EP600 was producing 2-3 times the sound level and didn't appear to be even working hard.)

Using the Darla test (from Finding Nemo) on A-B repeat the EP600 was shaking the entire house. Not that that is a good thing, but it didn't have any problems or unintended noises coming from it. (No rattles, chuff, etc..) The driver sure does move a LOT, and a lot of air comes out the rather big port.

I've ordered some cheap bass shakers to attach to my seating so I can shake the seats and turn the EP600 down a little so as not to shake the house to the ground. (The bass and shaking is better upstairs then it is in the basement.)

I've got some pictures I need to get put up, but it wasn't easy to get out of the box with only a 7' ceiling. (FedEx made lots of use out of the external box, but the insides all look like they survived.)

The rest of my system is M60s, VP150, and QS8s powered by a Denon 3803. The EP600 is the horizontal version in the center under the screen with the VP150 on top, which makes the VP150 look small. The VP150 slides off the back during the Darla test. (Actually it shook the little rubber feet off of the VP150.) I need to get the VP150 mounted to the wall over the EP600 before the vibration damages it.

I have yet to find my SPL meter, so it isn't all calibrated, anybody have any questions?

Cool.. CONGRATULATIONS !!

How big is your room ? You mentioned the shaking was better upstairs than the basement, is the EP600 upstairs or in the basement ?

Enjoy !!

The room itself is about 24'x15'x7' but it is mostly open to the other side of the basement which is 24'x14'x8' (unfinished.)

The EP600 is in the basement sitting on the concrete floor. (Well there are old tiles, and thin carpet under it, and I am using the rubber feet for isolation vs. the spikes.)

Does anyone have any good ideas/methods of isolating the basement? The upstairs floor appears to be acting as a diaphragm. The basement has a dropped (9-12") ceiling of 2'x2' tiles, and paneled walls (concrete behind.)

I will let you know more once I have actually have it calibrated and have watched some movies with it. At this point I think the EP500 probably would have been overkill, and the EP600 is way overkill, but I should never have to buy a new sub.
