Hi, I'm new here. I've a question: What is the value of having a component in/out in a av receiver? Marantz 4400 doesn't have while the other entry level avrs of Yamaha have.

I guess I'd reply by asking specifically what you mean by "value"?
If by terms you mean cost, probably not much until you implement video upconversion. And then theres the debate on what is a high enough Hz level for a High Def TV signal.

I've had both the H/K and the Yamaha and personally neither make a signal "better" in my mind. In fact, as meticulous as I am, I notice a signal degradation. It's just one more video component something has to pass through.
Now this is just my history. Perhaps with a line conditioner that would change. But I'd base my purchase on the sound, and not the video feature...personally. Good luck with what you decide.

Hey thanks for the reply. I guess for simple/amateur setup i.e. using a conventional TV and not HDTV - this feature does not matter. Thank you!! (And why is it misfit? Pardon my ignorance.)
