Are private messages, which are sent through the Axiom board, totally private?

I just saw this disclaimer at another well known audio forum and I just wondered if it works the same way here:

"Please also note that the use of the XXX.Com Private Messaging Service is not “Private” in the sense that it is a message seen only by the sender and receiver. While the message is private from the rest of the members, the administration of XXX.Com can see them. All rules that apply to posting on the Forum ALSO apply to the use of our Private Messaging Email System and violators will have their posting privileges subject to the same revocations as on the Forum in general."

Positive. That came from a "rules" section of a home theater site.

i'm just laughing because of the triple X you threw in there to "protect the innocent"...makes you look very guilty!

LOL! Ok. I get it now. I hadn't thought of that.

There's no such thing as a private message. Administrators can see & scan everything. I would assume the same rules apply for PMs as for public threads.
