So the latest animation I'm working on... need some "audio related" props as secondary objects in a scene.
Oh, whatever shall I model for a speaker? Oh, I dunno... an M3?!? Not quite done, have to tweak the surfaces (and of course, this is a test render, not the actual scene!), but I think I captured the beauty of these lovelies... is this like Hentai for a guy like BigJohn?

Just make sure you keep those ports covered if you're going to be doing any rotating. This is a family board...

Shoot, place the Axiom name in a prominent position on the model and he'll probably send you money. Advertising pays.

Thanks for all the compliments... have to finish the surfacing...the veneer is too specular, the dust cap isn't textured enough, etc. The model detail is pretty intense, though, there are even the little grippy teeth inside the grill nubbins, the driver screws are knurled with the same number of flutes, etc...
Needless to say this "set dressing" is going to end up being 90% pro bono, but at least I can always show what it would look like in stucco... or peanut butter.

I always wondered what the M60s would look like in stucco. Maybe the Axiom site could link to your model somehow...

Hey, if they want to set up a contra deal, I'll give them QuicktimeVRs of all the speakers in all the finishes, so viewers could spin them around in 3D space in their browsers, would have been cooler than watching the little animated spinning speaker when *I* wanted to see what they looked like... but I'm not a shill, I won't contact THEM about it.

If they added SE for minor changes, maybe they took out the SE for the same reason-naw, that dosen't make sense.
If the "S" in SE were "second" then the next minor change would be "TiTE"
The M2 would be spared however; it would be only M2iTE instead of M2TiTE.
And so on....

Good point. The M3s I borrowed were SEs. That was "one model back", right ? Was there any acoustic change or was that the revision where they changed the manufacturing process so the front edges became more angular ?

Imagine the jokes if the M2 had that model number, and proportionally smaller ports?

As I understamd it-if memory serves-the changes were the flats only at the chamfers, a different sticker and a change in the Axiom "a". I didn't recall a change to the angle, however. Since then there have been a number of equally minor changes; more new stickers, new flats on the nuts instead of knurling, a bolt for mounting on the back, etc.
That's part of the reason I was wondering if they had made any changes to x-overs and such, is that they had made a model number change for something minor but didn't follow thru with subsequant changes to the model number when additinal changes were made. Although it't true that none of the changes I'm aware of has any bearing on sonic output.

What you said... I just used the wrong words, agree that the angles didn't change

I am curious about one thing though: five years of double-blind testing and no performance changes...?
