main: large
center: large
surround: small/thx
subwoofer: yes/thx
i have compression off, dolby as auto/on - i put in spiderman 2 and have the system in dolby digital in thx mode. i put the s/w limiter setting at 0db. i get no noise from the sub during intro playback or when i choose scene selection which has some car crash transition screen. no noise whatsoever. any ideas ?

I would set the speakers to small to see if the sub is hooked up correctly first, then come back to us.

How is your DVD player hooked up to the receiver? I'd also check to make sure that the DVD player isn't doing something funky with the bass management.

haven't tried setting to small yet. spiderman 2 and avia guide send no bass to sub. denon dvd 2900 with optical cable, settings for it are multi audio 5.1 channel speakers on with no filter applied.
