My room is 18x10x8 and open to the kitchen. I think I am going to buy axiom but wondering if M60ti would be too much or would the M50ti be more than enough. Thanks.

In that size room i dont think the 60's would be too much. And although the 60's would surely do just fine i would go for the 60's myself.

The main difference between M50 and M60 is in the midrange, not really much different in terms of appropriate room size. The M60 is relatively more "forward" compared to the M50. I ended up with M60s before I really understood the difference... just listened to some M3s a week or so ago and still wondering if I would have preferred the M50s.
Anyways, choose between 50s and 60s based on things like the kind of music you listen to, your preference for "bright/airy/forward" vs. "relaxed, smooth", budget, stuff like that. I have not had a chance to compare 50s vs 60s but apparently the difference is fairly small. I did get a chance to compare M2 vs. M3 and I guess my first thought re: the midrange difference was "gee, is that all ?".

I currently have M60's VP150 EP350 and 4-Qs8's in our upstairs living room, while I complete my new HT downstairs. The room is about 15 x 20 with slight vaulted ceilings leading into the kitchen on one side, and the front door entryway on the other side. The M60's are great, and not to much for that space. If you can afford the extra change, I would say go for the 60's.

"Too much" is in the ear of the beholder! I have the M60's in a 20x15x8 room and they sound great. As sirquack said, if the price differential is acceptable go for the M60's.
I suppose, you could always try the M50's and upgrade to the M60's if you don't like them. I've heard that return shipping is free if you upgrade.
