Jason, the last sentence of my reply touched briefly on that point. The extra voltage can't actually increase the sensitivity of the auto on/off circuit designed into the sub, of course, but more voltage at any given setting of the receiver's sub out is more likely to satisfy the sub's requirement to keep it from shutting off. As was mentioned, most receivers can supply more than enough voltage with inaudibly low distortion through their sub outputs. If the sub isn't getting enough voltage, the level control on the receiver should simply be turned up a bit.
