Well, I "stumbled" across Axiom last night in my search for a good set of HT speakers and I must say, I am almost sold already. The delima I have is what to buy, and I am hoping that all of you can help. I am in the process of finishing my basement and would like to get the right speakers for my setup.

The "viewing room" is approximately 16'W x 22'L x 8'H, however the back of the room has another "leg" that makes the complete room "L-shaped". As for the equipment other than speakers, I will be using a Onkyo 702 receiver and Panasonic AE700U projector w/ a 106" screen.

I am trying to decide between the Epic Grand Master 350 and the Epic 60/350 with an upgrade to the VP150. I know that there are significant differences in performance and price, but would like to get opinions based on Value.

Another question I have is regarding the mounting of the Bookshelf speakers...can they be mounted to the wall and does anyone have pictures of this type of application.

Thanks in advance.
Chris

Chris, welcome. Yes, bookshelf speakers such as the M22s can and have been wall mounted, taking care to leave about 3" of "breathing room" for the back ports. In your size room the M60s would certainly do well and would have a bit greater maximum output capability. Especially since you'll be using a projection screen, I'd suggest that you consider having three identical speakers across the front, whether M22s or M60s, rather than a horizontally configured center.

Thanks for the advice, however I have a dumb question... Why the suggestion for the identical center speaker instead of a VP100 or VP150?

Chris, identical speakers across the front are generally considered to be ideal when that placement is possible, since horizontal speakers, even of the same make, will sound slightly different from the vertical mains. Additionally, in my view(I haven't heard the VP150)a vertical center speaker has a wider and smoother horizontal dispersion and should be preferred where possible. The use of a projection screen simplifies the question, since the sometimes awkward placement of a vertical speaker on a TV is no longer a factor.

Mark the calendar - I'm disagreeing with JohnK.

I recently tried the M22 versus the VP150 as a centre, and in my testing (in my room with my gear, YMMV) I found a vertical bookshelf to present a much narrower soundfield than the VP150. You get "off axis" in a much closer distance than with a horizontal centre.

My axioms are two weeks old. My mains are 12 ft apart and the 150 bridges that range VERY well. I have made adjustments increasing or decreasing center output to get there.
