Axiom speaker cable is good or...?

It's copper, it's thick, it conducts electricity, and it's flexible. Oh yeah, and it's fairly inexpensive. Yup, it's good.

Yes Joseph; it's copper wire, copper wire is a good conductor of electricity, so it's good. It doesn't conduct any better than regular 12ga lampcord for maybe 30 cents a foot(and to its credit Axiom doesn't claim that it does), but if you want to pay more for a more attractive cable, it's your decision.

You might find this discussion of "The Ten Biggest Lies in Audio" published in the Audio Critic about four years ago to be informative on the topic of cables and oher matters. Don't be fooled.

John: that is really an excellent article. It should be posted on all audio boards at least once a month (especially the ones talking about the speaker cables, LOL!). The author really knew what he was talking about from a engineering standpoint.

Seems like there was a thread here on power/ line conditioning.

Yes, a VERY excellent and informative article.

Its pretty much agreed upon in THIS forum that speaker wire doesn't matter as long as its the same gauge. How about some other myths explained by the author, especially tube amps vs transistors and bi-wiring? There are members around here who also use Tube amps as well as bi-wiring. I'm inclined to agree they are both myths since there has been no hard evidence proving otherwise.

I'm not trying to start a flamewar or anything, just trying to understand how people claim one is better than the other when science states otherwise.

So, is bi-wiring all that and can anyone hear a difference? I wonder if Axiom themselves have noticed any differences in sound in their anechoic (sp?) chambers/scientific tests when they tested a speaker with a single pair of wires vs bi-wiring.

Also, the author states whatever vacuum tubes can do in any audio equipment solid state devices can do better, cheaper, and with greater reliability.

Can anyone please explain the differences they hear when comparing wiring and types of amps? I'm no expert but would like additional insight in these matters

I won't go into any great technical detail, but there are some fundamental differences in the frequency spectrum between tube and solid state amplifiers. Do they result in audio differences that you can actually hear? That I don't know. Some folks claim that they can tell the difference, others say that you can't.

I tend to believe that the bi-wiring falls in the same category as the speaker wire.
