Zach, welcome. That's an excellent price for the 635 and it's hard to imagine how you'd do better. I'd suggest that you forget the "no matter what" part however, since it's entirely possible that the 635 will have more than enough power for your M80s in your listening room.. There's a tendency to overestimate power requirements and to spend money which could be used better elsewhere on power which will be unused.

I agree with John, the HK 635 is a great AVR, and is conservatively rated. HK also has no issues with 4 ohm loads. You may find you'll be happy, and be able to save some green for another purchase

First off welcome to the board.I think that's a pretty good price for the 635.It will run the M80s pretty good on it's own but don't discount what a good 2 channel amp will do for your system. You're going to be quite pleased with the M80s.I know I have been for the past two years.

Welcome Zach, That's a heck of a good buy on the 635 but if buying online I'd double check that the sellor is authorized by HK to sell the product, otherwise the manufacturers warranty *could* be voided if they are not an authorized dealer.
I have a 635 and also connected a two-channel amp to run my 80s for the front, makes for a neat little setup and you should enjoy it.

Welcome Zack. You'll be real happy with the 635, but as stated before make sure that the online dealer is licensed-HK customer service is great, but if you buy from an unlicensed dealer things get complicated if you have trouble. (Yes, I speak from experience.)

Ya thanks for the advice. This will be directly from HK though so nothing to worry about. : )

Actually now that ive been thinking about it....Is it worth going to the 7300 if im not gonna use the video upconversion?(Yes I know the 635 has it also but not as good I dont think)
I heard the 635 has Logic 7 that can be layered over dolby but this is only going to be a 5.1 setup so would that matter?
I can get the 7300 brand new for $1250 which is double what the 635 is. Worth the extra money or should I put it towards a amp for the fronts?
Also anyone thats heard both does the 7300 sound any better?
