Welcome. The 80's are awesome speakers. I have a Denon 3805 but my mains are on Outlaw M200 Monos. If you would be satisfied with the features of the 635, buy it and use the extra funds for an amp IF you feel you need it.

You have good timing. TNTguy just upgraded to the 7300 from the 635. If he doesn’t respond, send him a PM. Funny, I think I posted this exact comment a day or two ago on a different string………

read up on the 635. I was considering it, but backed away after reading some issues with it on avsforum.com

Besides, I'm in Canada, and the prices for H/K are way way higher, so mucn so that there are better alternatives.

Newf, just curious and in a nutshell what are the issues concerning the 635? I haven't read or heard about any.

I would not totally believe everything on AVS, a lot of biased people over there The 635 is a fantastic AVR. I remember when I was first looking at speakers, and a lot of AVS folks bashed Axiom, talking all this bright, harsh, mechanical smack talk. My guess is that many of them never heard Axiom's, I know I have and love them. Once in a while a troll from AVS will stop by our forum and stir the pot a little.

I have also noticed this. Watch out for AVS. Some good advice on there but also a lot of not so good advice. This forum has been great so far. I would have to say Audioholics is not bad also. I think Ecoustics is in the same boat as AVS.

I went ahead and ordered the 635 and hopefully I wont regret it. Im the worst with making up my mind so I just wanted to buy something before it was another 2 weeks of combing through forums still without a reciever. I could not merit double the price for another 35 WPC with the 7300. I will put that extra $600 towards an amp if I even need it.

You may find that the 635 has enough juice for you and your m80's. Who knows until you try it out. I think you made a fine decision regarding receivers. And if you need more power, a strong two channel amp will be the way to go as you said. Plus you'll gain the respect of the other m80 freaks. Just a joke. Haha.

Good luck and enjoy.

I think you'll be fine, you can always get some Outlaw Monoblock amps for 299 or less(b stock) to drive any of your speakers...The HK will have no problem driving the 80's.
