Did anyone else buy or rent War of the Worlds last night? Holy smokes. I selected the DTS mix and my house was absolutely throbbing. I've just got my lowly(!) EP175 and Hsu subs, and my couch was shaking. I can't even imagine what EP500 or 600 owners would be treated to.
I think this is one of those cases where it doesn't matter whether you like the genre, actor or the movie in general. This just turned into my top-of-the-heap reference disc for the low stuff.

I bought War of the Worlds and I have the EP600. My daughter went to bed early though and I did not want to play the movie at low volume, so I will wait for another day. I remember watching the movie in the theater and thinking to myself that this was a must buy DVD for the sound effects.

This is definitely a must buy. As stated above, I have a Hsu STF-2 and an Axiom EP175, and I have never felt my couch shake. Maybe the occasional rumble, but nothing on the order of what was going on in my living room last night. I'll be buying my copy tonight when I'm out picking up the Thanksgiving steaks.

I have a single VTF-2 and have been pleasantly surprised on occassion when my entire room starts moving.
So far the most fun has been with the Finding Nemo disc. When the sunken ship starts to fall...my entire floor was vibrating. Even Roger was impressed. (Obviously the Darla tap was impressive as well.)
In my current space, an EP500 would likely be too much. It's at the top of my list, when/if we ever move into a bigger place though!

I agree with you guys, it's been the most impressive experience so far on my new setup !
I didn't know that the HSU STF-2 was that good

I just did pick up the 'War of the Worlds' DVD last night but didn't watch the movie. Wife was off doing something and I wanted to wait on her but by that time I had already fallen asleep....I did watch 'Finding Nemo' and 'Field of Dreams' in the meantime though. That was the first time I've watched 'Finding Nemo' with the EP600 and whoa, now I see why there is so much mention of the 'Darla Taps' scene. Looks like I'll have to start nailing down things around the house for the 'War of the Worlds' movie.
This is a no lie story, the other day my lovely wife asked me if I noticed the crack in the drywall tape at the peak of our vaulted 'A' frame ceiling in the listening room. "I wonder why it keeps getting bigger?" she asked. "I really don't know dear, I really don't."
We're having our drywall hung and finished in the new room right after Christmas so I guess we'll have the (by then) even larger cracked repaired!

Tell her the house is "settling," as all houses do, and things like that are to be expected as the years go by. That way, you have all future cracks explained.
