Proud owner of an EPIC 80 500 system! And I must say, the only match to this system is the service provided by Axiom's employees! Great product, Great service.

At the suggestion of others I purchased the above named software to help me set up my audio on my denon 4806ci. However, when the software program is detecting my speakers, it doesn't detect the subwoofer, and it can't seem to distinguish between the left and right surrounds. Do I have a setting on the denon that is interfering with the speaker detection maybe? I set the denon to "direct" but still had the same problem. I should mention that the denon speaker detection program works fine. Any ideas?

I can't offer any advice, but just wanted to say welcome to the Axiom family! and I'm sure someone will be by to help you out.

Halson, another welcome. Also no specific familiarity with any quirks involved in using the S&V disc. However, if the Denon "program" you referred to is the fine Audyssey auto-calibration and room equalization system on your 4806, it would appear that this should handle setting up your system at least as accurately as you could do manually. It's good that you're enjoying your excellent speakers and you also have an excellent receiver. So, the idea I have is that the S&V disc is superfluous, at least as to calibrating your speakers, regardless of the advice you got to purchase it.

Sounds sort of familiar to me (but I have no experience with Sound & Vision software). If it plays test tones through a DVD player or from the PC, maybe the receiver isn't understanding the digital signal it's getting (or your source is connected to the receiver with 2-channel analog only, so the sub and surround channels aren't driven)?

If I'm way off here, then disregard. Otherwise, this earlier post may be of help

As long as you have all your speakers/sub hooked up correctly, you most likely won't need the Sound & Vision CD. The Audyssey setup in the 4806 should be all you need.

Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome and replies. Sorry for my delay on responding back, but gotta put in those 12 hour days to pay for my new system.

Yes, I did set up the speakers using the Denon Audyssey program and I do like the results. Because the Sound & Vision software was not identifing my speakers correctly however, I have concerns that maybe my DVD player is not correctly sending 5.1 or Dolby signals. When watching HD programs via my cable box, the Denon shows an input of 5.1 signals. But when I play a 5.1 Dolby DVD movie, the Denon only shows input for the FL and FR speakers, but I do get 5.1 surround output. Maybe I'm stressing over nothing here. I know one thing for sure, I do like the sound from this speaker system! It made me break out some of my old cd's; Janis Joplin, The who, Jimi Hendrixs, Ray Charles, B.B. King, heck even Tony Bennett sounded good. (Quite a mix heh?)
