OK, I realize this is highly subjective. But considering that I don't consider myself a "true audiophile," would it be worth my time to biamp my M80/500 speakers? I decided to order the Pioneer 84TX AVR. The 84TX is Bi-amp capable. I read the various articles and I understand that bi-amping is beneficial, but I'm wondering if it will be worth my time. Especially considering that 84TX is 6-16 ohms rated.

thank you

If you aren't going to use the extra surround channels, then by all means bi-amp the front. You have nothing to lose (though the reciever is likely to run warmer, as the front two channels get the lion's share of the work).

With that amp, you don't have to bi-amp your two fronts and sub regardless if you're a "true audiophile" or not.

Han, there's nothing subjective about it: that form of biamping doesn't increase the power available at all. There's only one power supply section in the 84 which feeds its available power through the output transistors in each of the channels in use at the moment. Feeding a speaker through two sets of output transistors rather than one obviously doesn't change the power which is available from the power supply section; whatever the maximum power per channel was before, it's the same after.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

Hansang, give it a try, you have nothing to lose.

But my guess is that you won't be able to tell the difference, single or bi amped.

Thanks everyone. That's kinda how I see it. I have some extra cables so I'll do it. Like you said, I highly doubt I'll be able to hear any difference.
