Hi Guys,
New to this forum,I have this issue with Axiom subwoofer ( EP 400) like wood chamber vibrating at louder volumes. This is placed on Auralex Ampdude to provide isolation from wooden floor.
There are no visible cracks or speaker damage
Any suggestions to fix it ?

Two things:
1) the volume at which you were using the speaker in at least one of those videos looks like it is pushing the driver to its maximum excursion which can damage the driver. This will create a solid thumping noise as the driver cannot pull backward any further into the voice coil.

2) the noise in the back sounds like either a loose cable inside, a loose part on the circuit board or a loose screw which also would sound louder if the speaker is pushed harder

I suggest you contact Axiom customer support line via phone for the fastest response to your concerns.

(Incidentally, if you use the EP400 at such volume levels, you might want to consider a larger subwoofer that has greater power and output capability.)

Diwa:

Welcome & thanks for coming over from AVS. Again I get no sound out of the first video but the last 2 are OK.

I've never experienced anything like this with my pair. As chesseroo said, sounds like some kind of signal input problem or a loose component. Did you try it at various volume levels with the input cable disconnected?

I run my EP400s at about 12:30 on the Volume Control that give me music peaks at around 90 Db. While the internal DSP should protect the sub, it is unwise to run it (or any component) flat out, IMO.

Hopefully the wizards at Axiom will be able to help...

Tighten amp plate screws till snug. Tighten driver screws till snug. Tighten speaker binding posts till snug.

Turn your sub volume down. You are asking too much of it.

It is bleeding. frown

Thanks guys for reply.
Reason I am running at that volume because my speakers are very sensitive. Here is my setup and sub is driven from pre amp.

Focal Electra 1027 BE
Pre amp : Emotiva XSP1
Amp : Conrad Johnson classic sixty amp
Sub: Axiom Audio EP400 Subwoofer
DAC : for now, Dragonfly

I am surprised that its DSP isn't kicking in to limit the driver from the huge excursions seen on the video.

I still believe that you should try the sub at Max Volume without being connected to your Pre Amp for a while. If it is completely quiet with no visible driver movement, then the problem is likely external from the sub, ie, way too much input signal or whatever...
