Since I set-up my SVS Sub my QS8s' with the standard mounts have started jumping off the brackets. While it certainly adds to the movie "experience" it is probably not a good idea in the long run.... Anybody got an idea other than to switch to the optional mounts ? I'd hate to put more holes in the wall or they could come down next. I'm thinking of wrapping the bracket to the speaker over the tab (somehow) in the back... Anybody else suffer from this problem and solved it ? If not, a good test is to rent "Hellboy" and crank-it-up.....

man i have never heard of that
when i put my QS8's up they are tightly in there.

try putting the rubber 'feet' on them to see if that holds them in place better

Sounds like you may have your QS8s set to "large."

Hello 2x6spds,

Hope you are well. I think he means that his new SVS sub is vibrating them. Now that is powerful bass..hehe.

Later,

Tony

Hello Pmcohen,

Hope you are well. Do you think some foam padding would solve the problem? Like some thick weatherstrips?

Later,

TonyM

WOW! I'm curious now. Do you have an SPL measurement when you crank up "hellboy"?

Make sure that you have these set to small.

The standard bracket should work fine. I found that mine where vibrating, so I purchased a bottle of tool handle rubber, it can be found at Home Depot. You just dip in the contact point (that touches the speaker), let dry and you’re done. It fixed my issue.

The full metal bracket is another option.

Did you use the little self-adhesive black hemispheres to space the QS8s away from the wall? They also seem to help the speaker hang more vertically, which would help.

And, of course, I'm sure you double-checked that the QS8s were slid all the way down on the flanges of the mounting bracket?

Thanks for all the responses - sounds like a few have found vibration on the backs of QS8s. I have the rubber already in place but will re-check to make sure they are set right. Also, I should probably make sure those tabs aren't bent. Those brackets aren't as strong as I would have liked to see. The QS8 are set to "small" on my receiver but my media room is on a second floor without adjoining rooms so I think the side walls really vibrate with the SVS. Actually, I think the SVS makes the whole top of the house flex... Sure adds "impact" to scary or action movies - Isn't that what Home Theater is about... Not sure on the SPL - Nothing other than the QS8s have come off the walls so far...

I can't help but believe that you don't have the QS8's "seated" completely in the brackets. If I remember correctly, the tabs overlap or interlock by at least 1/2". Even if there was not any friction holding them together, for them to actually bounce out of the bracket, you'd have to be moving a pretty heavy speaker straight up by a significant distance.

If you can move them more than a fraction of an inch sideways when they are on the wall, you don't have them fully inserted into the brackets.

Since, when they are in the brackets, the only direction they can move is "up", couldn't you add a mechanical "stop" on top of the speaker - something simple like a nail or a screw or a little L-bracket or something.

Wish I could experience your subwoofer. Good luck.

Since nobody asked yet, which SVS sub do you have?
