Would a M3 work out as a center with M22 for mains. Thanks Drew

Drew, welcome. Yes, an M3 would work as a vertical center with M22s, but unless you have some specific reason for preferring the M3, the M2 might be a better choice. The M2 is an almost exact match in timbre for the M22s above about 90Hz, while the M3 uses a different driver with a slightly different(although very good)sound.

Welcome!

Yes, the M3 makes a great center. I use 2, 1 above and 1 below. Both are on their sides with no issues.

I like to M3 because your center gets the most workout, especially if you watch tv. Most of the time, the center is the only speaker working.

Good listening.

I used an M2 (due to financial restraints) before I got my VP150. It worked great-my system is in a large room and I went with the VP150 to improve the listening for those sitting off axis.

M2 is cheaper than M3 so I will go with that and next year get the vp150 center and use the M2 as my rears. Thanks everyone

JohnK's opinion is that a vertically positioned speaker gives a wider dispertion of sound as compared to a horizontal orientation.

You could also use an M22 as a centre speaker if that is in your budget. This would be just as good as a VP150.

I ran three M3s across the front with real good luck for a couple of years. Since then, I have been using an M3 as center with M50s as mains and they work just great! Of course they all use the same complement of tweets and mid-woofs, so they sound neigh near identical!

Your sig says a VP150 as well, so you have 3 m3s and a VP150?!?!?

The VP150 is boxed in the closet, but I still own one!

Wow, I am quite amazed! You prefer the sound of M3's over your VP150?

Would there be a noticable sonic difference from using an M3 centre with M22 mains do you think? I myself am thinking of getting 2 M3s (one above the screen, one below) and if it doesn't work out, I can always use them upstairs.

I would rather have a pair of M3s than a pair of M2s.
