hi there,
theres been alot of discussion about the impedance of the 80's and the use of receivers which are not certified to go with speakers below 4 ohm. Since the 80's drop below that and the hk is not rated for that, what are the chances of the receiver going into protect. Does the 8000 have enough reserves to drive them even at loud levels or should i rather stick to the 60's and invest the difference in a SVS sub?
Anyone experiences with this setup ?
TIA

Zuck, don't worry about 4 ohms; the 8000(if you already have it)is a very heavy-duty receiver and should handle the M80s with ease. Note the lab results in this test.

Having said that, unless you have an extremely large listening room, I'd suggest that the M60s plus say a SVS 25-31 would give you even better bass than the M80s and still plenty of dynamic capability.

If you don't want a tube sub, Hsu has the VTF-3 in both black and redwood available as well.
