OK, first Google of the day. You made me look.

Not knowing Tom Waits' stuff, I learned that "People Envy Happiness, Dogs Though, Sense Courage Knowing Jubilation Means Better Assets” is Tom Wait's latest mantra.

Alrighty, then.

Cool. Another Tom Waits fan. Didn't know we had any of those around here.

Wow. I thought he was sort of an anti-touring sort of guy. And he'll be in St. Louis on June 26ths. 90 miles from my home. Sweeeet. I may have to go.

His music and ideas are a bit outside of the mainstream, but his lyrics and songwriting abilities are pretty incredible. His music is an acquired taste, and certainly not for everyone. But once you get into it, pretty awesome stuff.

I can't even imagine what a Tom Waits concert would be like.

Umm, awesome? \:\)

Mule Variations is my favorite Tom Waits album, but I enjoy his older stuff, as well. His percussive/noisy stuff I haven't decided on yet.

I like his bluesy stuff, where the voice is appropriate. The slow, theoretically lyrical stuff drives me up the wall, though.

Mule Variations is my favorite as well. Fantastic stuff on that one. Beautiful Maladies isn't bad either.

Edit: Oh yeah, from that YouTube Vid, Chocolate Jesus is one of my favorite songs of his too. Heh heh heh...

I'd love to see him jammin out Philipino Box Spring Hog live... \:D
