I am desperately trying to find a replacement Tweeter for a Dahlquist QX9 speaker. I've called the store where they were purchased 4 years ago, but they have no clue. The brand has since been discontinued and I think the company went under as well. They were in Markam Ontario, when I called their number I got the "number no longer in service" message.

If anyone has any ideas I would be very greatful.

Thank you !

This store in Ontario seems to still sell them. Perhaps they can help.

Thanks Murph

I followed the link and called the company, but they stopped carrying those speakers in 2003. I think the company is dead.. the other one you mention Regnar is not the same Dalhquist line of speakers.

I don't think I will be able to find a stock replacement, maybe after market..

Thank you !

Ebay I did check, there was a bunch of Regnar Dahlquist, but not the Canadian Dahlquist QX speakers.

I'll try Audiogon.

Thanks

I think you can post a "Want Ad" at Audiogon. It's worth a shot. I don't know if they charge for it or not.

I ask this as a question, not as a suggestion.
How much of a sin would it be to research what a very similar tweeter would be and order two. Then replace the tweeters in both speakers so they match.

I this something ever done on higher end speakers or would it be considered an abomination and you might as well have ordered new speakers altogether. I know people mod or replace tweeters to change the sound if they are not satisfied, but since the goal here is to keep the same sound, I honestly don't know if it's a good idea or if I'm just displaying my inexperience by asking the question.

I'd say the specs would have to be identical, otherwise you'd want to change the crossover. Another problem would be getting the tweeter to fit in the same cabinet hole the previous one was in.

I thought about that very same thing.. change both tweeters..the problem is think in this case is the cabinet. The Dahlquist tweeter form factor is kind of unique ..not round at all..so unless there is a way to only change the transducer and keep the "plastic cover plate thingy " then I dont' think it's possible ..or I guess I could always alter the actual cabinet to make another tweeter fit..with the black grills on..no one would know :-)
