Looking back on this post, I'm incredibly disappointed to report that the Rush Blu-Ray shipped first (today). The wait on the 800 is getting frustrating.

I'm thinking of getting the snakes and arrown blue ray, however, two things are holding me back - the guys seemed a little sloppy on the snakes and arrows live CD (specifically geddy's voice) compared to previous performances, and I already have several of their concert DVDs.
I guess i'd like to hear feedback on it first, but the blue-ray is very tempting. The review online said that there were a lot of good angles for drummers / musicians to watch the instruments as opposed to just panning the crowd etc.
and btw, I just bought some m60s (n00b thread) and I've never heard rush sound better (they're my favorite band)

*sigh* you (and they) talked me into it. I just picked up the blu-ray version tonight and am popping it into my ps3 as I type =)

I agree, though I've only watched ~6 songs so far. I admit, I skipped to the end to hear The Spirit of Radio as it has always been my favorite song to hear/see them do live.
2 hours and 50 minutes of concert footage, plus all the extras, which I haven't even looked at yet. What I've seen and heard thus far is very good. I find the mix captures the "live" sound very well, much better than other concert DVDs of Rush I've heard.
Looking forward to more time to watch this weekend.
Jason

I loved it. The sound quality is great, and as a drummer, I loved all of the shots of Peart playing. I can finally figure out what the heck is gong on behind those cymbals =)
unfortunately the bonus content is not in HD (though it was originally recorded in Hd, I don't understand why they down-converted it for the Blu-Ray version)
Personally, though the song selection is great for Rio, I wasn't that big of a fan of the DVD because of all of the ambient fan noise and crowd pans. (I feel the same way about a lot of live shows)
then again, I haven't listened to any of my other rush DVDs on my axioms yet.

I couldn't figure out either why the Atlanta show wasn't in HD although the picture quality is still top notch. Rush In Rio is a noisy DVD however it is enjoyable because it is different. R30 is a much cleaner looking performance than Rio. Snakes and Arrows Live has given us superior sound and video
