Ive got a Yamaha 1400 which has inputs for what they call "presence" speakers. These are to be mounted above, behind and slightly outside the main speakers to add more ambiance.
Has anyone else heard of this and can advise if this is worth buyin a couple more speakers for? Im considering the M2s for this if it would be a noticable improvment to my system.
I currently have the M60s, VP150 and QS-8s with an SVS 20-39 sub. I plan to add another set of QS-8s to the rear for 7.1 in the future.
Thanx

I have speakers hooked up to the "presence" channels of my 2400 and I really like what it does for HT. It seems to lift the whole sound stage and it gives the impression of a much larger theater much like you would hear in a movie theater. After listening with the presence channels for a few months I tried it with out them and really prefer them in the system. I would suggest trying it before you buy new speakers just for presence channels. Perhaps you could borrow a pair of small speakers to check it out with.
I've been reluctant to add rear speakers because there doesn't seem to be a heck of a lot of material out there that supports it yet

you could try using your QS8s for the presence speakers position for a while
MWC-agreed. There doesnt seem to be too much rear sound effects. There are some, but i would definetely appreciate more.
