I just watched the “Toto: Falling in Between Live” Blu-ray. I bought it on the fly today at Fry’s because I had read a good review of it on Blu-ray.com.

You know you like something when you loose all track of time until you suddenly realize that your face hurts from grinning ear to ear for the last 30 or so minutes. I usually prefer studio mixes of songs I’ve always heard that way in the past but this is one exception. Just read the review and then dial it up a notch or two and that would be my impression.
The ambience of the hall is perfectly reproduced in the surround speakers. The echoes sound so real it’s like your standing there. Playing this was perfect validation that I’m getting everything dialed in as good as it can get. The only other thing I’ve listened to here in the house was Sean’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” Not even the Blu-ray sampler that came with my Oppo sounds this good and it was done in a studio.
Although it might sound cheesy I liked that they gave coloured balloons to the audience and had them throwing them in the air at times. While the colours were already well presented the balloons burst out with all the colours of the rainbow adding some vivid eye candy.
If you are a Toto fan this is as good as you will ever hear them sound in concert and if you don’t mind that the songs differ some from the studio versions it’s going to be the best you’ve heard them sound ever.
