I just finished watching Shakugan no Shana last night. I did like it, though I wouldn't quite list it as a classic. Parts of the story were pretty flimsy, though there were some really good moments, and Shana's yelling at Yuji made me laugh. It ruled in Japanese, anyway. I'm not sure how the English voice work is.

What else have you been watching?

Oh, and the OVA was kind of a waste of a disc. It was only as long as an episode, and while it made me laugh, it was just fluff, with no real meat to the story.

The first episode of The Familiar of Zero was promising. Hopefully the story lives up to the premise.

Thanks for the update Charles. Not sure when I’ll get around to watching it since I’ve got such a huge backlog of stuff to watch and I’m trying to get through as much of the 1.33:1 stuff now and saving the 1.85:1 stuff for after I get the projector and screen.

Only anime I’ve been really been watching recently is “Pani Poni Dash!”

Pani Poni Dash

Pani Poni Dash!

I think it’s hilarious but YMMV. I imagine it’s a love it or hate it type of a show but the plot doesn’t require much to follow so it’s been something I’ve been able to watch while to busy for long sessions.

Also I think I posted before I finished PGSM liking it a lot. You either like cheesy live action Japanese shows or you really hate them. And checked out the first 2 episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist to see if it would be worth setting a whole weekend aside for it, and I think the answer is yes.

I'll have to check out Pani Poni Dash. Thanks for the heads-up.

I look forward to your thoughts on Fullmetal Alchemist.

Eastern Promises

It was all right. I can see why the bathhouse scene was talked about. Brutal.
