I keep saying I have seen it all (interconnets, power cables, speaker wire, vibration disks, funny ink on the ouside of CD's, directional fuses), but now I have really seen it all. http://boingboing.net/2005/11/07/astronomically-overp.htmlI simply can't stop laughing at this. Who in their right mind would even come up with this crap, yet alone buy it.

Seen it before. That's my favorite piece of overpriced audio equipment, bar none.

I'll have to try to pass a couple of those little items through my finance dept., just for kicks. Good luck! Have fun in the doghouse pal.

What the hail is C37 btw? Sounds like some kind of explosive.

Adrian, C37 is the special patented process which is responsible for $484 of the $485 cost. Edit: okay I bothered to google it, and here's the rather nonsensical description for C37 lacquer.

I can see applying something to paper cones to make them more rigid??
For string instruments, like the violin, there have been numerous debates and studies on the difference in tonal quality with changes in varnish.

Thing is, that makes sense, since the body of the violin is something you want to resonate, something that HAS to resonate to make the sound of the instrument. If your preamp is resonating, dude, you've got a problem!
