Here's two more clips from The Collective- Red Bull Rampage Final scene . This clip really shows just how much effort is put into the cinematography. Absolutely amazing and beautiful camera work (watch the credits, too); it's quite stunning.

I've been trying out Parks and Recreation. Entertaining enough so far. I'll keep watching. Also, it's Drum Solo Week on the Late Show. Here are the first two. Anton FigSheila EMakes me wish I could drum!

I watched the Russian version of Solaris last night.
My opinion? It sucks.
It was interesting only as an example of how Russia and USA would perform the same movie, beyond that not much of an entertaining value. There was some music only in about 2 short parts of the film. The rest of the movie was either silence, talking, or some soft background noise. Mostly silence.
They took a lot of short cuts in this film. About half of it was done in black and white. I tried to find some meaning to this, but it was too random to mean anything. It started out seeming that color was the here and now and B/W was referring to some past event, but then that meaning got blurred. There was a car ride with just the street noise for audio for about 5 minutes straight, then a 20 second rocket ride to the space station immediately afterwards. The actors would peer out the space station window at the sights below, but you were only left with your imagination at what they might be looking at.
Overall pretty cheesy. A good movie for the guy with the 3 robots to make comments, but even then, about the funniest thing they could do is snore.
edit: Oh yeah. This movie was supposed to be full of "artistic" shots. There were a few at the beginning before a word was spoken. Then 1 or 2 during the rest of the movie.

My wife loves it. It's basically The Office with different characters. My wife can't stand The Office, though.

I think season 4 of Mad Men is ultimately more fulfilling. So watch it first if you want something good right away, or second if you like to finish with desert. Season 3 of Breaking Bad is worth watching, but not as powerful as the first two.
The Raining, er I mean The Killing, left me disappointed, actually disappointed me throughout. First AMC original to do so. I guess their streak of perfection had to end at some point.
