Problem with how to mount the TV on my wall solved by someone on avsforum. I'll cut a wide piece of 3/4 inch plywood that will span 3 studs, painted same color as wall, and mount the wood to the outside of the wall, them mount the articulating wall mount to the plywood.

Someone else did this and says it is extremely strong and holds a lot of weight.

Well, for years I've been showing examples of "panels" behind everything I've mounted because of my plaster lathe walls!

Yo dawg, I heard you like walls, so I build a wall on your wall so you can put your in-walls on the wall on your wall and mount your TV to the wall on your wall.

Just ordered this Sanus Systems XF228-B1 full-motion flat panel mount for $301.78. I saved the $40 shipping from Amazon by signing up for the free 1-month Prime membership trial. This paid for half of a 1 year membership, so far. Good choice. :patting self on back:

Sanus site for this mount.

Now I can't decide between a Panasonic 65 inch VT50 or the Samsung 64 inch E8000 (or E7000). I've been reading that the Samsung has the best picture quality, on both the Panasonic and the Samsung threads. Eeoww!

I guess it's better to wait and see for myself.

You know, I've never really discussed this, but sometimes I think comparing TVs in a showroom is a little like trying to imagine how speakers in a showroom will sound in a different room / in your home.

You can't really calibrate them properly, so how can you really tell which will be better? I'm not even talking professional calibration...just good, careful end-user calibration can make a big difference over the pre-set "picture types" in the menu. Not to mention the uncommon lighting in many stores.

To be honest, I just read many reviews when I bought my main TV, and purchased it through BestBuy.com, with a store pickup. I didn't even walk back to the TV department to see if they had one on display.
